BIM Automation
One of the areas that we have shown heightened attention recently is the automation of various tasks in the field of engineering and architecture. The push from clients and competition to finish projects in less and less time is widely seen as one of the core issues in the AEC sector. We have standardized our solutions and have some set of rules for how normally our technologists should approach each project by slowly building up single-purpose tools, parametric objects, sets of rules, and quantified data.
Benefits should be realized regardless of which project stage it is adopted. In our case, we started with Dynamo in BIM as we saw maximum potential there to reduce overall project time. Increased efficiency in model creation should also cascade quickly to other stages. Nevertheless, automation in any of the process stages can make improvements in time consumption and provide a less prone to errors, more efficient workflow to engineers/architects. In terms of quality, automation enables to keep the quality improvement more consistent, reducing the slope of diminishing returns when applied to final stages, where usually any further refinement to the BIM model requires excessive amounts of time. Standardization and automated templates raise the overall quality level throughout the entire design process.
